"Night falls. The memories of my ancestors come back to me and a smile forms on my lips. The veil thins and my memories like a candle, radiate in the growing darkness. Tonight I will remember, I will be there and guide those who need it. My home is a beacon that will find the lost in the dark and my mourning will accompany the dead on their long journey. No other night is like Samhain for I know that this night, they will come to visit me to share their wisdom with me."
The Samhain veil is directly inspired by mourning veils, halfway between the veil dedicated to Death and the one our grandparents wore, the mantilla allowing contemplation in complete serenity. Violet, mystical and cold, recalls the fog that is the veil of the night in this period. This veil is a representation of meditation in times of mourning, of the desire to be alone but surrounded, the need for a space for oneself and death to feel and live this moment insaisissable.
For this veil I chose a beautiful cold purple wild silk effect satin. A soft side for the inside, like a caress, an embrace, and a matte side on the outside, straight, creating a cocoon for its wearer. The inner circumference is lined with a hand-sewn black sequin chain.
The mantilla is a lace with a pattern of roses in lace and velvet with a softness and lightness, just enough to see without being seen.
